Assessment
After individuals have contacted YAAS they will be invited for an
assessment appointment. During this session we will establish what
has brought you to make contact with the service and talk about what
happens next.
Alcohol Support
The core element of this service offers individuals structured
motivational support which focuses on their relationship with
alcohol. During sessions we will look at, for example, patterns of
use, triggers, practical changes, managing times of craving, dealing
with social environments. Alcohol is often one of many issues
facing individuals and it is useful to discuss some of the other
difficulties which have an impact on alcohol use.
Rehabilitation in the Community
One of the team at YAAS works specifically with individuals who
alongside their problematic alcohol use need support with housing,
employment or debts. If this would be of benefit to you, please
enquire when contacting YAAS.
Criminal Justice
YAAS is working closely with North Yorkshire Probation by offering
support to offenders want support with problematic alcohol use.
Two workers from YAAS are also trained to deliver the Drink Impaired
Driving programme run by the probation service.
Group work
YAAS facilitates three very successful groups which respond to
client’s treatment journey and the cycle of change. These are 8-12
week closed structured closed group programs and have generated a
high level of positive client feedback. Please see the leaflet on

Hypnotherapy
Since 2004 Rob Williams has delivered hypnotherapy sessions at YAAS.
These have been received very well by service users and the project
has since expanded. Please see the separate page on the
Hypnotherapy Project.
Auricular
Acupuncture
YAAS
provides auricular acupuncture for those clients accessing the
service.
